Flexible Work

Gig work that fits around real life.

Sometimes a traditional schedule isn't what you need. Gig and flexible work can give you another way to earn while you're between jobs, building a business, adding income, or simply looking for more control over when you work.

These platforms offer different types of flexible work. Availability, requirements, pay, and incentives can change, so review the current terms before signing up.

Delivery

Amazon Flex

Amazon Flex uses independent delivery partners who use their own vehicles to deliver packages. Drivers reserve blocks and complete deliveries through the Flex program. Amazon says most drivers earn $18–$25 per hour, with actual earnings depending on location, tips, and delivery time.

Do the Math

Look at the money you actually keep.

Gig platforms often advertise a rate or estimated earning figure. That number isn't the whole story when you're using your own vehicle or paying for your own business expenses.

Before You Accept

Check the Distance

Look at pickup location, delivery distance, traffic, and where the job leaves you when it ends. A short-looking Gig can take much longer once travel is included.

Track Expenses

Know Your Costs

Keep records of mileage and other legitimate business expenses. Fuel, maintenance, insurance, supplies, and vehicle wear can affect what you actually earn.

Protect Your Time

Choose Work Carefully

Flexible work is most useful when it works for you. Don't accept every Gig just because it is available. Compare the time, distance, effort, and expected payout.

A TCJ Reminder

Gig work is an option — not a promise.

Availability varies by city and platform. Earnings can change, and independent workers may have responsibilities that employees do not. Read the platform's current requirements and payment information before you commit.
